"How Tall Is Madeleine Albright?"

She Is 4'10"

Madeleine Albright is the first woman to become a United States Secretary of State. Appointed by President Bill Clinton she was sworn in on January 23, 1997 and served until 2001.

And U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 to 1997.

She has published four books, in 2003 her memoir "Madam Secretary, in 2006 "The Mighty and the Almighty: Reflections on America, God and World Affairs, "Memo to the President Elect: How We Can Restore America's Reputation and Leadership.

"Read My Pins" takes an intimate look at her life through the brooches she wore from dime -store pins to designer creations and family heirlooms.

It all started when Saddam Hussein's poet in residence called her "an unparalleled serpent".
madeleine albright read my pins While preparing to meet with Iraqi officials she responded by making a diplomatic statement by wearing a snake pin.

Although her method of communication was new, her message was as old as the American Revolution—Don't Tread on Me.

From that day forward pins became a part of her daily wardrobe and diplomatic signature.

With a shimmering sun or a cheerful ladybug on her jacket International leaders would be pleased. Less so with a crab or menacing wasp.

She wore a zebra pin when meeting Nelson Mandela.

One of America's most accomplished and fascinating diplomats she said

"Before long, and without intending it, I found that jewelry had become part of my personal diplomatic arsenal. Former president George H. W. Bush had been known for saying "Read my lips". I began urging colleagues and reporters to "Read my pins."
