Frustrated, she vented on a late-nigh talk show and director Robert Rodriguez happened to be watching the show that night and was impressed with the beautiful, witty and articulate woman and cast her in his upcoming movie Desperado. (1995)

Salma Hayek caught everyone’s attention and her new fans were as dazzled by her as Robert Rodriguez had been. She had soon been nominated for an Academy Award for best actress.

Then appeared in From Dusk Till Dawn and Fools Rush In.

In 1999 she signed a huge deal with Revlon as their new Cover Girl.
She went on to star in Wild Wild West (1999), and co-produced Frida (2002) where she play the title role Frida Kahlo.

Selma Hayek is now an executive producer of Ugly Betty a television show airing around the world.

She’s known as one of the hardest working women in Hollywood.

On a personal note she had a baby girl on September 21, 2007 and is an advocate for UNICEF, Violence Against Women and has testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on behalf of the VAW Act.
